Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”

The area Calipornia lies in, has been subject to drought much worse in past history than our country has experienced. The early 20th century was extremely wet, way above normal; and the people arrived in droves. Now the rainfall is receding back to average and that amount cannot sustain the amount of people living there now. Why do you think all the past civilizations that once flourished there are now gone?
There us a back up plan. A 6 billion dollar pipeline from Texas. We already supplement their state electricity might as well give em water too.

Maybe if CA would actually save the water instead of diverting it into the ocean because of the Delta Smelt… maybe if they cared more for the people in the state than some little critter then this would not be a problem. But they don’t… so they do!
