Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

They’ve looked into that. They claim it’s too expensive.
I mean, what do you expect when you build hundreds of cities of what would be desert.
Reminds me of New Orleans. It was blatantly obvious you shouldn’t build a city in a bowl, especially next to the ocean!
Don’t build cities in the desert.
This is when the federal government needs to step up and divert a river by something like the keystone pipeline. They can pump oil thousands of miles so why can’t they pump water
Greenie weenie demorats don’t want to build water resevoirs.
So, how about some TRUTH, NO Water infrastructure has been built in California since 1979, and almost ALL Reservoirs in California are built to hold 1 to 2 years worth of water. The Aquifer under San Bernardino is down 8% from Full and we have had a Seven year drought in recent history and our Government has done NOTHING to prepare for another. TRUTH!
Time to seed the clouds again
Good
trying to turn an arid place into a lush green area needs to stop- yard watering should be banned period, everywhere, not just CA
Storage facilities???? Like in a warehouse???.?
Looks like the midwest and eastcoast will have a population exposition!
But they’re saving the bait fish, the Smelt… which has a much greater importance than Humans…Thank the environmentalists…
