Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”

Yea, your legislators have been ignoring the problem for decades. Why? because they don’t want to p**s off any of the companies that depend on cheap water. This is just another symptom of our elected officials bowing to the ones who fund their next campaign. Doesn’t matter which party they belong to
There is no shifting in blame, democrats have been in control of California for decades and we’re no seeing their total failure.

This is the direct result of corporate profits overshadowing indivdual rights. Someone wants to subdivide a few thousand acres and sell lots of homes, go ahead, we find you some water. Want to grow food crops where there isn’t enough water for a cactus? No problem, we find you some water. This is the path California set for itself decades ago. Add global warming to the picture, and guess what??
