Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.
MOVE TO PAGE 2:.

Theyve been warning them for years. Next will be nevada .
Hey CA think Desalination Plant and join the rest of the coastal cities. the reason why you have an issue because Governor Brown (D) isn’t smart enough to figure this out.
Stop watering the golf courses and the homes where the rich live
should have showed a picture of 2008 maybe . calif always has all the answers and the smart $#%&!@*ed replies so let them sort it out and by the way where did all that water go anyway? Think about it
And guess whose fault that is? But somehow they’ll blame it on Bush.
The biggest problems with this drought, has been caused by the democrat policies, to protect this fish or that animal. Come on folks!!! It’s not that hard to figure out. Who is more important? People or fish? Yes, fish are important for the chain of life, but we have to be smart about the policies we advance. With all the man made dams, and what not, to protect some of the species there, this was bound to happen. I guess they care more about the little fishies than they do their own welfare. They have done this to themselves, through the idiotic policies the “tree huggers’ have fought to p$#%&!@*. They have made their bed, now they can lie in it. LOL I have no sympathy for them whatsoever, cause they have been led down this road by hypocrites, some of which are the worst offenders of nature.
Benefits of a careless society
Theere is a lot of sea water along your coast, guess it is time to focus on an economical way to desalinate it and stop taking water from other states.
Too many people!!!!
They’d save a lot more water by not growing almonds. 80 percent of water use in California is agricultural and 50 percent of that goes to almonds. It also takes 10s of thousands of gallons of water to raise 1# of beef. Think of that when you eat your next burger!
