Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”

An unlimited supply of water on their coast and instead of spending their money on utilizing it they spend it on never ending social welfare programs that are bankrupting the state.

The result of government subsidizing water use and allowing people to live where the resources are not sufficient to support them. (See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogallala_Aquifer) Farmers in Arizona had stated years ago that if the Feds didn’t charge them water rates far, far below the normal rate they could not farm. They were turning desert into farmland. Nature did not intend for this to happen. Don’t mess with Mother Nature.
That’s what happens when you build cities and over populate a desert.
