Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Who cares!??? Schools have still been watering lawns, people have continued topping off their swimming pools, elite golf courses have continued watering the greens and fairways, and others continue to abuse the water bans! We have heard these reports from relatives living in California. The Hollywood crowd and rich and famous have continued to ignore watering bans so I don’t care if they run out of water. They’re a bunch of liberal bug and bunny fools so they deserve it.
Back up plan, quit letting the waters divert to the ocean.
You people might have to truck water in and tell the golfers no greens I hope you people get rain
Maybe because CA has so many illegals?
Can we get a count of the full swimming pools in Hollywood and pools in communities and golf courses watering all day.
But our governor wants a bullet train instead. I also read where tons of water is being poured into SF Bay for the smelt. We the people do not count. It sickens me to my core.
TURN ON THE WATER; DUMB $#%&!@* WIPES.
their own damn fault
Man made problem! Nothing to do with global warming. Take the high speed rail money and build more reservoirs, stop the 1 trillion gallons a month diverted to help save the delta smelt ( not indigenous the CA), build desalinization plants up and down the coast. And as the population grows plan a aqueduct from the northwest to the south that will end the problem.
Remember we live in a desert! We and the 40 million now here are the problem to solve. Man made problem need a man made solution. Hey, resume drilling of the coast and take the income from that and pay for the water solution. It will clean up the beaches now covered with tar from the natural leakage from the sea floor. Santa Barbara is dealing with a big problem there! They want to drill now!
Kinda late to be announcing only 1 yr of water left in CA.
