Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Wow that’s all I have to say.
At least there is Water.
Guess we could use rain water!
Hey man WV we got it all.
My questions are .. is this the only state it’s happening to? And if so why? And why now all the sudden instead of 50 yrs ago? Are there water companies in cali tapping into the under ground water? Also is it good judging that state for being more evil and wicked than the rest? thoughts that cross my mind when I saw this..
You have a fricken ocean beside you idiots. Filtrate the water. Duh!
I agree Morgan, but that is easier said than done. I’ve worked as a water treatment engineer, and treating salt water is doable, but it’s just expensive because of all the sediment, salt, and other minerals in the water. If that is their last option, I’m sure that’s what they’ll do though.
The plan is more fracking
This guy James Ramirez is an idiot. I have his address if you want to slap him around.
Actually it is cheaper than the so called bullet train and will serve more people in more meaningful way. Sense when does the state of CA worry about expense. They could throw out the illegals and save money and reduce demand as an alternative.
