If you were to ask somebody who studies space and things that come from space for a living, what would happen if a large asteroid hit Earth, and his response was “pray” it probably wouldn’t be very comforting. When posed with the question, Thomas Zurbuchen, the Associate Administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington not only said that, he also said that it’s not exactly a what-if scenario, but it’s a matter of when.
But don’t fret! There’s good news.
While an asteroid impact on New York could be devastating, it would seem that an asteroid impact in Los Angeles would be less devastating. Thanks to a simulation, which took place in El Segundo, CA, on October 25 they were able to figure out exactly how long emergency rescuers would have to evacuate a city. The emergency planners based their scenario on an object they tracked through space with an impact probability of 65%. However, there was a period of four months where they couldn’t track the object, making their findings shaky at best.
Find out what FEMA had to say on the next page.
Lol@ the 65 percent chance evacuation simulation. Good fuckin luck, dumbasses. The average asteroid out there is bigger than a bus, and many the size of a city. The average speed they’re traveling is around 60,000 miles per hour… Some far faster. An impact of a go-cart traveling at 60,000 miles per hour is devastating considering thats about 16 MILES per second. Picture how fast something would be traveling in your head if it covers 16 miles of distance in 1 second…Your brain cant handle it. Now imagine something the size of a city at that speed or greater made primarily in many cases of iron that wont even remotely burn up in our atmosphere upon entry. The kind of impact force due to inertial energy would be like thousands if not millions of Hydrogen bombs in many cases going off simultaneously. And the reality is, some of this$#%&!@*is traveling so fast in complete darkness that the only heads up you’ll really likely get is the sound cracking through our atmosphere right before it impacts the ground and levels you all like a kid smashing a fuckin ant mound with a boulder…only much worse . F=MA. Force equals mass times acceleration. Asteroid plus earth impact = YOU’RE FUCKED.
It happens every day, most just burn up before they hit earth. Some make it all the way thru our atmosphere, and if you take a strong magnet and sweep it over your roof, you can sometimes find some of these micro meteorites. If your roof has gutters, your chances of finding a few of these out of this world visitors are even better. Just carefully clean out the debris in your gutter, sweep over it with a magnet, you know there was no iron in your roof shingles, so the magnetic particles are most likely from outer space.
Amen! I believe it also says that even the angels in heaven won’t know when it’s going to happen.
Socialists will blame Trump.
Can it hit on broadway.. a show called, Hamilton?? Just for the hell of it.
What a highline of c**p..at least for the next 10 thousands years
I don’t think so amen
Amen
NASA has been preparing for this since the early sixties, this is old news, why do you think they landed a rover on a comet. They started this last year, talking about asteroids.
Do you think?
