If you were to ask somebody who studies space and things that come from space for a living, what would happen if a large asteroid hit Earth, and his response was “pray” it probably wouldn’t be very comforting. When posed with the question, Thomas Zurbuchen, the Associate Administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington not only said that, he also said that it’s not exactly a what-if scenario, but it’s a matter of when.
But don’t fret! There’s good news.
While an asteroid impact on New York could be devastating, it would seem that an asteroid impact in Los Angeles would be less devastating. Thanks to a simulation, which took place in El Segundo, CA, on October 25 they were able to figure out exactly how long emergency rescuers would have to evacuate a city. The emergency planners based their scenario on an object they tracked through space with an impact probability of 65%. However, there was a period of four months where they couldn’t track the object, making their findings shaky at best.
Find out what FEMA had to say on the next page.
Finally, I get to leave this damned world.
Correct he said it would be by fire next time.
No, really, I mean it this time Mickey A. Foster, this is the big one!
Yes by fire
This is a revolving story
NASA is full of$#%&!@*..since the NASA scientist came forward and admitted its to dangerous to send humans through the van allen belts a lot of wha
There’s no evidence that your fairy tale is real or that anything in your book of mythology ever happened. But here’s what makes me laugh the most. You’re all about getting ready and being prepared when it comes to an end of times fantasy. A fantasy with no shred of evidence, but when it comes to an actual end of times possibility (global climate change) with concrete evidence and warnings from the smartest people on the planet (scientists), you sheep laugh it off. I mean you sit there and try to convince non believers that they should believe in your magic sky wizard, just in case he’s real. Where’s the harm you ask. But then you won’t take your own advice and believe scientists just in case they’re right. Seriously wheres the harm in protecting the environment that keeps us alive? If global climate change indeed ends up being a hoax, then no big deal right? At least we’ll have a clean planet. But if it does turn out to be real, we’re all toast. It’s like insurance, you hope you never need to use it, but you’re damn sure glad it’s there if ever you do. News flash, there’s no other place to go if we ruin this one. Humans might not be around when magic sky daddy finally gets around to returning, and he might not be happy with what you’ve done to the place.
Not true. Example: if you’re driving a car 90 mph around a tight bend marked 35 mph its going to go bad for you even if your listening to a Christian radio station and praying to your dashboard Jesus.
Yes
And to think, Florida told us we didn’t have to wear helmets.
