What would happen if someone in the mainstream Conservative media asked the simple question: “Should the far-Left be confronted with force?”
I can already see you smirking, because we both know how that would go, particularly with what has been going on in the Fake News Industrial Complex (FNIC) for the past week, beginning with the calling for all Confederacy-themed…anything…to be torn down, removed, blown up and then completely erased from the memory of this great country’s long and storied history.
If anyone in the Conservative media ever asked that question, the very first reaction would be if President Trump will be condemning that hateful statement. The second question would be where did the question originate and can we boycott them. The third question would be if the Department of Justice should look into bringing federal “hate crime” charges against that individual and the media company.
Now that we’ve established what would happen on the Left if that simple question were asked, I want you to turn to the next page to see my reaction to the question that was posed on MSNBC last night of “Should the far-right be confronted with force?”
This is an excerpt from an article titled “Republican State Convention” from the May 8, 1869 edition of the Council Bluffs Weekly Nonpareil newspaper. President Grant has just come into office, the state of Iowa is gearing up for state elections, and the country is in the healing process from the Civil War. We are currently repeating this part of our history.
“What steps may be taken in the coming campaign to rally the scattered Democratic Party of the State we know not, but from the utterances of their press we can judge of the bitterness, intensified by repeated failures and defeats, which they still indulge in towards the principles and men of our party. Conscious that, in the question of reconstruction, whatever concessions have been made, they were made by us in the interest of peace, and not through the fear of offending or conciliating the Democratic Party, they cordially hate and spurn the arguments that convinced the people of the rectitude of our intentions, and the wisdom of our national policy. They suppose that our force that was spent in the vigorous blows given them in the last campaign, they vainly hoped that our chief had become an indifferent captain, and that our party had struck a shoal, but their own reflections have recovered to them the consciousness that they have neither a principle to avow, nor a policy to advocate that has not been sorely condemned by the people in their solemn negative at the ballot box.”
