In many ways, children today are accused of being sheltered little cupcakes who have no idea what it is like to face adversity. Everyone has the grandpa or great-uncle that will tell you how they had to walk five miles to school in the freezing snow — uphill both ways, of course. These pampered little kids today have no idea what it was like.
But children going through school in 2016 also must deal with plenty of unfathomably ridiculous injustices that their parents and grandparents never had to endure. Things such as Common Core math problems, symposiums on white privilege, lectures about microaggressions, the bigotry of “gendered language,” and the confusion over why boys are suddenly allowed in the girls’ restrooms.
So yes, while children today are sheltered from many things, stupidity is not one of them.
Recently, a 13-year-old student at a Houston-area middle school became the subject of a full-scale forgery investigation when she tried to pay for her chicken fingers with a $2 bill.
To read about the ridiculous lengths to which the school district’s police department went in their investigation, and to learn their findings, continue reading on the next page:
This is not a typical 2 dollar bill. I’m not sure what it is, but they were right to question it. Can someone find out what it is and let us know?
As the article stated, and from its different kind of look, this was a 1953 two-dollar bill. Really, it’s a collector, not a spender. And who knows how much more than $2.00 it might just be worth. Give your collector money to an adult, not a desperate, hungry kid.
Only 18% of the kids in that school pay for lunch, that is less than 1 in 5. It should be understandable when one of the very few kids from a family that works for a living appears with actual cash, no one recognizes it.
Somebody at that school better buy a courthouse outfit, ’cause I smell a chicken finger-scented lawsuit!
hint: it’s gonna be for more than $2. . .
Has any teachert, princepl ever seen any USA money
Have any of you ever seen REAL money before the thieves put Federal Reserve Note? Guess not, that is the reason why this sparked such a tizzy. If anything, she should have saved it. And the morons, oh the morons. Wow, just wow. I am only 40 and know what real currency looks like. Red notes are the most scarce, as the blue notes – PSA – if you find notes with red or blue numbers, either keep it, or, if you are that afraid of it being f**e – you can hand it over to me – I will gladly take it off your hand. Pffffft.
Number one, this is a 13 year old CHILD who is hungry! Number two why are the POLICE called and holding a CHILD without a parent present? The responsibility rests with THE PARENTS, not the child, give her her lunch and take it up with the parents. This is beyond asinine into outright illegal!
That’s old bill collectable
I have some I have them stored away because they are collectible!
Maybe if they taught something in school this would be common knowledge
Dumbass teachers.
