Maine began enforcing a new requirement for food stamp recipients: work for your food or your free food will be taken away.
Since Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s administration began enforcing the new work and volunteer requirements late last year, about 9,000 non-disabled residents have been removed from the program.

Way to go.
And they keep defunding the military, the chart doesn’t show government wages

Well, I’m all for drug testing and doing whatever we can to get ppl aff free programs, but after reading the article, they play with the numbers and actually turn their story partially into a lie. If you’ll notice, this new law ONLY applies to single ppl who aren’t disabled. A single non disabled person will draw at the most, less than $100, if they meet every qualification and have no job which is almost impossible to do. The real amount is going to be more realistically between $35-$60 for a single person no dependents. Now that takes us to a different screen. They are showing the average of $477 to be for a family of 4, which is a huge difference. That brings their math from $19 per hour to a more realistic $2.08 per hour if they get $50 worth of stamps. When you add the 3 extra ppl $#%&!@*uming 2 are kids and 3rd is parent that drastically changes what you draw. So yeah, I can sort of see why they dropped out of the program. They emphasize APPROVED volunteer program. Most of these programs require you to supply your own transportation and will only use you 3-4 hours each time. So if you have to make 5 or six trips somewhere to get your 24 hours of volunteer time in, you could spend more on fuel than what you draw in foodstamps. Once again, I’m not for giveaway programs, but I know how this stuff works and I hate to see a politician toot their own horn without revealing the truth about the entire situation.
Yessssss!
You know, people who judge people on food $#%&!@*istance really make me sick. They have no right, they have no idea of the persons cir$#%&!@*stances, maybe they don’t have a car and they are too far from a bus, maybe they do have a car but have to drive 30 miles to work 20 hrs a week and can’t afford the gas for the first 2 weeks before a paycheck that just might cover the gas, maybe they can’t get a job because even McDonalds won’t hire them because they have been out of work so long they don’t have a recent job history, or just moved to the area and don’t have any references besides family, which the company won’t accept, Maybe they have a mental disorder, which is darn near impossible to get disability for or to even get the $#%&!@*le ‘disabled’ and can’t work because the freak out major melt down when someone comes down on them, swears or yells or is just and outright jerk to them, or just plain pressure of the workload. If you haven’t experienced PTSD, Anxiety, Panic Attack Disorder, Personality Disorders, Bi Polar Disorders and so on, then you have no right to judge someone you know nothing about.
Like if your driving a benz you dont need help
Honestly, if they want to save some big money, quit supplying free cell phones, free home phones, free cable TV and all the other unnecessary junk. They’re spending billions on these programs and none of tgem are necessary. When I was growing up we didn’t have a phone or cable TV and we made it just fine,,, oh, I almost forgot free computers and internet.
We want América back.
Wonder whether the crime rate will go up now?
