Maine began enforcing a new requirement for food stamp recipients: work for your food or your free food will be taken away.
Since Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s administration began enforcing the new work and volunteer requirements late last year, about 9,000 non-disabled residents have been removed from the program.

more states need to do this stop funding lazy people who are healthy enough to work and don’t
Yeah? My daughter has some disabilities and needs them, but because she looks like she can work, he her looks. They cut hers off too. Here in Indiana.
All states should follow suit.

Just in case ya missed it
Food stamps are a state problem, not federal, your graph is invalid
i have fibromyalgia arthritis and angina. i could do 24 hours a month. heck i volunteered for more than 24 hours a month while working a full time job before i got sick. nc doesn’t require it for food stamps but they do for the tanf cash benefit only it’s 25 hours per week for 239 per month. like i said i don’t mind volunteering but 100 hours a month for 239 a month cash lets get real here. needless to say my phone is about ready to be cut off till tax season starts, if i can find a tax season job this year, or the disability gets approved. oh well, i’ll enjoy it while it lasts then it’s back to the good old days before phones.
if you governors would call gov LePages office I am sure he would share his plans with you no he is not a screwed liberal He is a honest person who grew up on the street and WORKED him self up to be a fine and just Man
Good job. We need this in every state
It’s a start.
