Dems love to scream about the doomsday and end of the world scenarios they associate with changes to welfare. They label Republicans as heartless for daring to suggest working is a viable source of income instead of welfare.
Maine must be making liberal’s come unhinged as the welfare reform, put in place by Republican Gov. Paul LePage has been an enormous success, with welfare numbers dropping by 56, 506 people and unemployment also benefiting as well.
How one asks? What did they do? Read on page 2.
That’s the problem here. I completely agree that there are too many living off the state. That never used to happen when the mills were still up and running here in Maine. There is an entire population of people living off the state that would thrive in jobs like that. You want people off welfare then you need to stop sending decent jobs overseas. I dont understand why nobody makes that connection. When you work at Wal-Mart you still need assistance to get by.
As for cutting benefits for the truly disabled, that is why he is hated in Maine, and him trying to build a government that only helps his rich buddies.
I just said he’s not popular with EITHER party. Stop reading only what fits your agenda. It makes you look stupid
Small population
Good for him I love it .ny take notice
Funny you can afford a computer and wifi or are you at a library
Now if all the States will make the deadbeats earn it, but we all know the liberals and democrats will fight it to keep their votes.
NY i know they call it “workfare” You have to work to get assistance, and if you have children and child support welfare also takes that money, something has to go back into the system, however if you are disabled you are not forced to work. I do agree other states should be following this, however some states just don’t have any jobs and that is the problem. BUT here is an interesting fact in NY : at one point welfare was getting jobs for people doing “Phone Psychic’ work, not sure if they are still doing it.
Now if we can convince the rest of the states to follow, we can start to turn our economy around.
I am for getting professional welfare freeloaders off the roles but all for helping the people who really need the help I myself had to have help for awhile but as soon as I was able to get off the help I did and am I am disabled in a wheelchair and cannot walk also am 75 years of age . I worked since I was 14 years old went to high school worked a full time job all that time never quit working till I was forced to quit working because of my health but by dam we never lived off of welfare my husband was injured on his job and permantly disabled the company he worked for fought the claim saying it did not happen even with witnesses saying otherwise took 10 years to settle we did not go on welfare I supported us when there is a will there is a way when all was settled and done with the injury problem after expenses he received the sum of ten thousand dollars from labor and industries for settlement they did pay over one hundred thousand dollars in hospital and medical bills but we made it also at that time I was making 3.50 per hour working as a janitor and doing odd jobs on the side . This lead to a job as an office manager for a Dr. Where the most money I ever made was the last year after 20 years was 1000.00 per month . Where there is a will there is a way . I totally agree they need to stop sending jobs overseas but also people cannot not expect a wage no one can pay for those who cannot get that type of job they will have to find 2 or more jobs I did and have friends who do but are not on welfare .
NY makes them work Greg
