Around 1,000 gun owners rallied at the state capitol in Olympia, WA, openly armed, this past Saturday in defiance of the newly passed gun control law, I-594.
“This isn’t just a protest. We are here to openly violate the law,” stated Gavin Seim, organizer of the event, named ‘I Will Not Comply’.

Show me where any politician or activist had told a law abiding citizen to give up their gun(s). You all have yourselves worked up into a frenzy over your skewed perception of reality. Take a deep breath and relax, no one is taking your guns away.
we need to have these in EVERY city in the entire nation!!!
Nobody is coming after anybody’s guns. This is a solution looking for a problem
Mindlessly following orders

The measure was designed to require background checks to be run on every person purchasing a gun in the state of Washington, even those who do so via private sales. However, transfers of antique guns and those between immediate family members are exempt from the background checks. The measure also required that dealers who are facilitating gun transfers – whether they are through the licensed dealer or a private seller – receive confirmation in writing from the chief of police or sheriff that the purchaser in question “is eligible to possess a pistol […] and that the application to purchase is approved by the chief of police or sheriff.” Furthermore, the initiative rendered it illegal to hand off a firearm to people outside a person’s immediate family, though exceptions were mentioned, including situations in which people are at a shooting range or hunting.[1][2]
Just a summary of the law… it’s just an existing law… On background check… I’m not quite sure what the issue here and why these people are protesting… are they against background checks? I assume that they are against families inheriting guns? I have read the whole bill and in the end is based on an existing bill but adding that it is a felony to just give a gun for anything outside of hunting or firing range? It’s cool that people stand for their rights but I think to protest based on misinformation is not an actual protest but people gathering for no good reason…This is more a danger promoted by dangerous people than a promotion of protection of rights for people to abide by…
The 2nd Amendment says citizens DONT need government’s permission to buy or own a gun.
Many of us are not against background checks at all- it’s all the other parts of 594 we object to. Under 594, it is illegal for me to loan my own son a rifle to go deer hunting. It is illegal for my wife to take one of my handguns to the range for some target practice. When I die, whoever inherits my pistols has 60 days to register them with the state–information that the government does not need unless it plans on eventual confiscation. Those are some of the things we object to. It was sold as background checks, but it goes much further than that–further than what federal law requires.
