Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia bluntly told law students at the University of Hawaii in early 2014 that internment camps will one day detain Americans.
“You are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again.” In “times of war,” Scalia said, citing a Latin expression, “the laws fall silent.”
Of course, the U.S. government is currently engaged in the “war on terror”, which spans across our “Homeland” and the entire planet.

The idea of an armed rebellion of the people to over throw an unjust tyrannical government is a pipe dream. Even if EVERY citizen with a gun stood up to the government it is doomed to failure. It would be a blood bath.
We are no longer talking about people having similar arms as the military. They have already set the stage for killing US Citizens on US soil with drones. Smart bombs and missiles would wipe out any dissident groups or militias.
There are no longer strong, well organized militia groups. Those were quietly (and sometimes NOT so quietly) dismantled starting in the late 80s.
Unless the US military sided with the citizens, it would be a mostly hopeless cause, and WE allowed this to happen
