Deviating from the cautious course being pursued by at least 27 state governors, California Governor Jerry Brown vowed to work closely with President Obama in resettling Syrian refugees entering the United States, reassuring Californians that the incoming asylum-seekers would be “fully vetted in a sophisticated and utterly reliable way.” This means that many of the 10,000 Syrians the Obama administration is planning to bring into the country within the next year may be settled throughout the Sunshine State.
Brown’s promise to cooperate with the Obama administration is interesting considering his past positions and remarks on a similar issue. During the 1970’s, when thousands of Vietnamese fled the communists taking over their country, Brown, then an up-and-coming liberal politician, expressed little sympathy towards them, reportedly stating that the federal government was going to “dump Vietnamese” onto the people of California.
An interesting choice of words on his part. One wonders how he and other liberals would react if someone said he was going to “dump Syrians” on California.
See how others reacted to Brown’s announcement on the next page:
Yeah, I’m glad I left Cali.
You will be sorry mr brown, but you deserve it.
He’s insane
Another king who will enlighten us little people.
You old fool. You are not above the law, and you can’t make law.
Hopefully at the govs house.
Im glad Gregg Abbott is my Governor … dont mess with Texas ..
Well Jerry Brown has another thing coming. I believe the citizens of California and the taxpayers of California will have something to say about it. After everything is said and done and after all the laws have been put in place Jerry Brown will be out of a job believe that. Everybody remember this past summer when the Hispanic people from Honduras we’re getting off the buses or trying to get off the bus in California and they said you’re not getting off here you’re not coming here keep moving along and then went to Arizona in continued on to New Mexico. Nobody took them they ended up in detention centers. I believe they’re still being held there because nobody wanted them that’s right. The taxpayers of California and other states are tired of pain for these governors mistakes. I believe Jerry Brown will be looking for a job in the near future. I don’t believe it’ll be government related, something gives me a funny feeling about that.
really jerry, it’s hard enough to live here in the melting pot that everyone wants to call it, we dont need more immigrants taking our jobs, and everything else. help them stay in their country, if you want to help them
