On Friday, Attorney General Eric Holder said his Justice Department (DOJ) wants to “explore” gun tracking bracelets as part of its gun control efforts. Probably he’s just warming America up before issuing bracelets for other constitutionally guaranteed freedoms…
When discussing gun violence prevention programs within the DOJ, Holder told a House appropriations subcommittee that his agency is looking into technological innovations.“I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe,” he said.
“By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon.”
“It’s those kinds of things that I think we want to try to explore so that we can make sure that people have the ability to enjoy their Second Amendment rights, but at the same time decreasing the misuse of weapons that lead to the kinds of things that we see on a daily basis,” Holder said.
The Justice Department has requested $382.1 million in increased spending for its fiscal year 2014 budget for “gun safety.”
Included in the proposal is $2 million for “Gun Safety Technology” grants, which would award prizes for technologies that are “proven to be reliable and effective.”
President Barack Obama’s budget proposal also calls for $1.1 billion to “protect Americans from gun violence—including $182 million to support the president’s ‘Now is the Time’ gun safety initiative.”
Eric Holder is supposed to help defend the constitution and the rights it enshrines. Instead, he seeks to twist the words of the document and expects Americans to be content to enjoy their freedoms only if they wear a government-approved bracelet? Naturally, it is a short step to include GPS tracking and monitoring of the bracelets and to extend the requirement to other rights. How about offering protected free speech to only citizens with an approved bracelet? Maybe Holder envisions allowing free religious practice only if Americans submit to wearing other government insignia so they can be tracked while they worship.

Sick.
Lets not
This kind of stuff is bull$#%&!@*! I’m sick of the government deciding what my rights are, I already know what they are, I can read the Constitution. We as free people cannot stand for this kind of ‘Nannying’ in our lives. Living in a free society may just be a little more risky than living in a totalitarian state, but I sure as hell am willing to take the risk! We cannot stand for this! Who gave them the power to decide what our rights are? There would be a hell of a lot less gun violence in this country if they would get tuff on these gangs in Chicago and Detroit and down on the border. The Fed’s not doing $#%&!@*. They need to get hard on them like they did the Mafia and the KKK back in the 20s and 30s They act like they are afraid of them.
What a waste of tax payer money I could think of a lot of other way to spend that much money. What a wasteful bunch of jerks we have in the White House.
im afree american, and i dont need this ass hold pewrmission for a dam thing. he cago stright to hell. im in a free country its still the u.s.a. this dirty bag has got t go
Go to Mexico and track those guns that you gave the drug people was used to kill real Americans !!!!
The major problems here are, do you really trust the government to oversee making them? How easy would it be to interrupt your bracelet so that you can fire your weapon? Do we really trust the government to “NOT” have the ability to simply turn them off?
$#%&!@* that idiot should of shot that fool when they took over that ROTC buildings with guns by the way I can’t have a job if I have a felony but he can be the nations top cop give me a break
