As the issue of child marriage gains more attention, New Jersey legislators decided to do something about it and passed a bill that would prohibit marriage of any children under age 18.
Governor Chris Christie was handed the opportunity to make New Jersey the first state to officially ban child marriage without exception.
Nancy Munoz, the bill’s main sponsor, is a Republican assemblywoman from Union. She introduced the bill after hearing testimony in committee hearings about children being forced into marriage “for religious reasons.”
Under current New Jersey law, children under age 16 can be legally married with parental consent and approval from a sympathetic judge.

Anyone who thinks this ok is a nut job.And should be shot
Secretly would like to join in?
Glad he’s not President

P***y s o b protecting children should come first. Pedophiles hide behind religious beliefs. Raping a child has nothing to do with religion. And anybody that supports child rape is just as bad as the pedophile.
Make no mistake folks..anyone touching a little girl in a sexual way in front of me will meet his creator..protected by law or not..
