As the issue of child marriage gains more attention, New Jersey legislators decided to do something about it and passed a bill that would prohibit marriage of any children under age 18.
Governor Chris Christie was handed the opportunity to make New Jersey the first state to officially ban child marriage without exception.
Nancy Munoz, the bill’s main sponsor, is a Republican assemblywoman from Union. She introduced the bill after hearing testimony in committee hearings about children being forced into marriage “for religious reasons.”
Under current New Jersey law, children under age 16 can be legally married with parental consent and approval from a sympathetic judge.
Find out what action Christie decided to take and why on the next page.

If they want child marriages in Sharia law they can hop on a plane and move back to Country where they can do that
Hey stupid this is America…. We dont molest children it is against the law.
Is he that stupid?
Seems like you have your priorities a little mixed up, Mr. Christie!
Idiot. If your moor against it you’re for it
I guess he thinks being a pedophile is just ok if you’re a MUSLIM?
He has got try and make this legal cuz he’s a pervert
18 is young enough for marriage. Someone needs to look at the divorce rate of young married before making an opinion. And muslims should be forbidden from marrying any one under 18. Those poor girls !!!!
WHAT???? What about our laws that come before these disgusting pediafiles!!!!!
That’s stupid!
