The State of Georgia has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the website Public.Resource.org for – brace yourself – publishing state laws online.
Within the lawsuit, Carl Malamud is being labeled a ‘terrorist’ by the state of Georgia for posting an annotated version of the entire state body of law.
Under what guise is Georgia suing? This gets even more offensive…

I hope he sues the c**p out of Georgia – they have no leg to stand on.
He’s absolutely correct that there’s no copyright and the ANTI-SLAPP law should also protect him as he is discussing matters of public concern.
The unpublished court rulings have a direct effect on the public and if you don’t have access to it you can lose your case by not being fully prepared for it.
There’s plenty of laws on the books that have been altered by rulings and now are nowhere near what’s available in print to the public.
They are stae laws on they are on the books.
