The State of Georgia has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the website Public.Resource.org for – brace yourself – publishing state laws online.
Within the lawsuit, Carl Malamud is being labeled a ‘terrorist’ by the state of Georgia for posting an annotated version of the entire state body of law.
Under what guise is Georgia suing? This gets even more offensive…

This is absolute lunacy. “Each of these annotations is an original and creative work of authorship that is protected by copyrights owned by the State of Georgia. Without providing the publisher with the ability to recoup its costs for the development of these copyrighted annotations, the State of Georgia will be required to either stop publishing the annotations altogether or pay for development of the annotations using state tax dollars. Unless Defendant’s infringing activities are enjoined, Plaintiff and citizens of the State of Georgia will face losing valuable $#%&!@*ysis and guidance regarding their state laws.” Laws are not copyrighted and the “law makers” are paid a salary by the taxpayers to create laws that most likely will infringe upon our rights. What a crock.
liberals at work
Lefty whackos must go
republicrats and democans…most are communists.
Why are they so threatened by posting the laws that are on the books?
This is unreal when prisoners are able to study law in prisons. Georgia best check out the Islamic Camps that really are terrorists in this state. What is wrong with this state?
Does that mean anyone who goes by our laws is a terrorist – georgia is way out of line on this – must be run by fascists
good grief!
There are so times, the news is that unbelievable and depressing!
We would not need the Supreme Court, if people voted on their own laws, but I guess that would mean the government was run by the people and for the people !
