You can trick your whip all you want, but GM says that car is still theirs, no matter what you’ve paid. In a hearing this week, General Motors attorney Harry Lightsey said that purchasing and paying off your GM vehicle is a license agreement and not ownership.
The U.S Copyright Office is holding a hearing on whether anyone other than the vehicle’s manufacturer has the right to alter the that car’s copyrighted software. With modern design being what it is, this means almost altering anything about the vehicle.
Mechanics and private owners are saying they need to be allowed to make repairs on their vehicles to keep them running or maintain their business. But GM is saying that anyone unauthorized altering anything about the vehicle could create problems with the software and endanger the driver. This sounds more like a business ploy on the part of GM to hold a monopoly on vehicle repairs.

You Know They Want To Monopolize The Repair Of All Their Sales. On A Different Note, Trump Got On Ford For Moving Vehicle Assembly To Mexico, Now They Are Moving Plants Back To The US, Really
It’s not just GM ,every manufacturer has the same position. The story just sells better when they can slam GM.
Since the people bailed out GM, I guess WE own GM technically.

I’m pretty much guessing that I just bought my last GM product in 2011 and done with them. Total and complete b******t. By the way the 2011 Serria’s with the 5.3L Flex Fuel engines suck big time. GM never came to my house to fix the oil pressure sensors that crapped out 5 times, they force you to use a$#%&!@*oil with “Dexos” for double the price of any other oil, because they own the formula, void your engine warr if you don’t use it even though there are other oils that meet the same specifications, they aren’t fixing the corrosion problems in the engine that occur just from using Flex Fuel. They did fix the issue with the throttle sensor, the didn’t fix the issue with the ABS that tore up my rear differential. DONE WITH GMC, IF THEY OWN THE$#%&!@*IN MY DRIVEWAY, COME GET IT AND PAY ME BACK MY HARD EARNED MONEY THEY FRAUDULENTLY TOOK FROM ME!!
