You can trick your whip all you want, but GM says that car is still theirs, no matter what you’ve paid. In a hearing this week, General Motors attorney Harry Lightsey said that purchasing and paying off your GM vehicle is a license agreement and not ownership.
The U.S Copyright Office is holding a hearing on whether anyone other than the vehicle’s manufacturer has the right to alter the that car’s copyrighted software. With modern design being what it is, this means almost altering anything about the vehicle.
Mechanics and private owners are saying they need to be allowed to make repairs on their vehicles to keep them running or maintain their business. But GM is saying that anyone unauthorized altering anything about the vehicle could create problems with the software and endanger the driver. This sounds more like a business ploy on the part of GM to hold a monopoly on vehicle repairs.

Too Bad For you..I Buy Ford
This lawsuit will do wonders for new car sales…..LOL
Like hell you say.
Well.what do you.think about buying a Chevy ??? All Chevy owners should sue Chevy for making them pay their property tax. They should have to repay to owners ever dime they l paid out. General motors has hide this$#%&!@*for years.
Guess they want to make people stop buying their cars.
Good so when it breaks you take it back and fix it free
Try and take it
Well if that is true then General Motors should have to pay to keep up the cars and trucks that they own and give me a new truck
Hahaha tell me Mr General motors who makes the print plate and the chips that you install a program that only tells a injector to open and close a ignition sequence to turn on and off mind you it’s all based on a magnetic pick up either on the fly wheel crankshaft or camshaft that doesn’t take a so called special software to make a engine work. The engine will continue to work if you put a distributor and carburetor on it. Now telling me that you can do as you please after I might have purchased this from your company means that a simple mathematical equation takes place in never purchasing a vehicle from the company you represent. I believe that may be the demise or call it the great ending of general motors group existence. Not that it would be a huge impact on the world with the boat anchor engines and transmission packages you have so called improved.
GM makes more money financing cars then selling them
