With the advent of cellphones as a standard device carried by hundreds of millions daily, the ability of citizens to film police and politicians in public settings has increased accountability for those holding positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, a growing trend of judicial tyranny could curtail a person’s right to access their phone to suddenly film an event unfolding before them in a public setting.
First Amendment rights advocates argue that the right to film public events should never be abrogated, given the protections of the U.S. Constitution.
But with the judiciary having more statist judges in place, it’s become more challenging to protect these most basic rights.
In the federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri, a recent ruling has struck down the right to film public officials in a public setting. On the next page, learn how the dispute may have to head to the Supreme Court to get resolved.
Those who create laws should abide by same said laws as all others. So do away with masking the people and surveillance. That is invasion of privacy. Any government offical should be recorded more so than the average joe, otherwise it becomes a corrupt government. Oh wait, its already corrupt.
Exposing your idiocy,?????? Haha. …. so sad the swamp rats are found……about time…. Phones aren’t only method……
They should be required to be under surveillance at all times. That makes more sense than the opposite.
always a higher court
Then they shouldn’t be allowed to do any filming at all as well – to include public events like rallies, protests and etc???Right???
I’m an American like most other here in America. If Law officers and Politicians are doing their job like Americans are expected to do, then film, audio, and documentation should always be allowed because there is nothing to hide. In addition, the Prosecution and Constitutional Laws should be applicable to the fullest for those lawmakers and law enforcers who do not follow the Laws of the Land Period! Otherwise, citizenship as understood is useless. Still, we must stand behind Laws, because without Laws, there is no country…
Right
B******t.
Well I think that stinks. People can be held accountable better with video proof.
F**e news again. It is click bait for people who believe anything they see on facebook.
