With the advent of cellphones as a standard device carried by hundreds of millions daily, the ability of citizens to film police and politicians in public settings has increased accountability for those holding positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, a growing trend of judicial tyranny could curtail a person’s right to access their phone to suddenly film an event unfolding before them in a public setting.
First Amendment rights advocates argue that the right to film public events should never be abrogated, given the protections of the U.S. Constitution.
But with the judiciary having more statist judges in place, it’s become more challenging to protect these most basic rights.
In the federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri, a recent ruling has struck down the right to film public officials in a public setting. On the next page, learn how the dispute may have to head to the Supreme Court to get resolved.
They are wrong
Adolf Pelosi
Then they shouldn’t film us either what’s good for us should be the same for them
It should dumbest thing I have ever heard!
Politicians are are not ‘SPECIAL’, they have no more or less rights or expectation of privacy in a public setting than any other citizen! Police are held to a higher standard while on duty and NEED to be held accountable for ALL their actions! They should welcome proof that their actions are above reproach!
So we’re supposed to just trust them when they say what’s what?! And look at how well that’s happened in the past…!
Federal court cannot override supreme court ruling.. calling B.S. on this one.
Where and why are they any different than anyone else. Just because they seem to think they are more superior than everyone else. Time for these radical Liberal Politicians to pull there heads out of their chapped butts.
Not gonna stop me.
then why can they film us or stop us bikers just to take our pictures
