With the advent of cellphones as a standard device carried by hundreds of millions daily, the ability of citizens to film police and politicians in public settings has increased accountability for those holding positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, a growing trend of judicial tyranny could curtail a person’s right to access their phone to suddenly film an event unfolding before them in a public setting.
First Amendment rights advocates argue that the right to film public events should never be abrogated, given the protections of the U.S. Constitution.
But with the judiciary having more statist judges in place, it’s become more challenging to protect these most basic rights.
In the federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri, a recent ruling has struck down the right to film public officials in a public setting. On the next page, learn how the dispute may have to head to the Supreme Court to get resolved.
IF I WANT TO I WILL
If that’s the case then why does the media have the right to film the president and complain about him??
This an outrage!!
Why?? The do the president
In public, this will get overturned
Stupid democrats are so dumb they think they can have it both ways. Down with liberal democrats we don’t need you
Nothing to see here peasants, just keep moving…
So true and I am afraid it’s going to get worse till God above gets enough of it and has his wrath on us
This will end up, and be reversed, by the US Supreme Court
Bull c**p. This “if even remotely true” is so they can try and hide more of the sins and crimes. The chose to be public figures just like actors and actresses. It’s all part of the game. Oh yeah I forgot, most of them like to make up their own rules and change them when ever they are losing. Which there sure has been alot of that going on.
