With the advent of cellphones as a standard device carried by hundreds of millions daily, the ability of citizens to film police and politicians in public settings has increased accountability for those holding positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, a growing trend of judicial tyranny could curtail a person’s right to access their phone to suddenly film an event unfolding before them in a public setting.
First Amendment rights advocates argue that the right to film public events should never be abrogated, given the protections of the U.S. Constitution.
But with the judiciary having more statist judges in place, it’s become more challenging to protect these most basic rights.
In the federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri, a recent ruling has struck down the right to film public officials in a public setting. On the next page, learn how the dispute may have to head to the Supreme Court to get resolved.

If this is the CASE all Cameras must come down.I may run for office some day , then what.
B******t!!
It is a police state they don’t want their wrong doing filmed
You can film other people legally, but I believe stalking and photographing police pfficers can distract them and cause injury or death.
Just remember that the police and politicians are employees of the citizens of this country nothing more
They don’t want this war they trying to start
Good luck with that
When in the Hell did this STOP being America. When did the Liberals think they have taken all of our Rights away from us. . We are FREE Americans with tight given to us by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States.. A lot of us have taken an OATH to protect the same. “I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; ” We have fought the foreign, now it is time for the domestic. (Semper fi)
This has got to be c**p. First of all if the public didn’t have so much mistrust in our officials there wouldn’t need to be an avenue to film you in the first place.
Screw that$#%&!@*judge.
