With the advent of cellphones as a standard device carried by hundreds of millions daily, the ability of citizens to film police and politicians in public settings has increased accountability for those holding positions of public trust.
Unfortunately, a growing trend of judicial tyranny could curtail a person’s right to access their phone to suddenly film an event unfolding before them in a public setting.
First Amendment rights advocates argue that the right to film public events should never be abrogated, given the protections of the U.S. Constitution.
But with the judiciary having more statist judges in place, it’s become more challenging to protect these most basic rights.
In the federal Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri, a recent ruling has struck down the right to film public officials in a public setting. On the next page, learn how the dispute may have to head to the Supreme Court to get resolved.
What fucking idiot, why are these people trying to say$#%&!@*that isn’t true. 1st4th5thamd everything in between ,it is too toy fool
Will be over turned
Wrong another leftist Obama plantation judge.
Filming is our right.
Another liberal ruling that the SCOTUS is sure to strike down.
Go where they brake the law , They won’t do that in publicly !
Will the Federal Court recognize that American citizens have a “WRONG” or two? Jimmy
If I don’t have the rite to film any one in public. Then I don’t have the rite to pay their$#%&!@*eather. When are they going to learn that We The People are their bosses.
This post is a lie. The federal court did NOT say anything about the right to film police or politicians. This is just a case where a man was suing for being arrested while he was filming cops. His case was dismissed by the judge and he was trying to have The judge recuse herself because her Husband worked for the city that he was suing he said she was prejudice. The eighth circuit court would not grant his motion.
If they can film us , we can film them .
