So you have to have a bunch of water to dig a well? Ironic. Not to mention pressure for the hose. And how do you select a location and its depth?
As long as the aquifer is not contaminated. You determine the depth based on a draw down test to calculate the hydraulic conductivity of the soil. Basically how fast the water table recovers after the well capacity has been reduced.
You will be getting surface water. Will Best water comes from bedrock.

Yes, Steve Schwartz is correct. No human in history has EVER drilled or dug a working water well without a degree in hydrology or fluid dynamics. Only a scientist is capable of such a complicated task. That’s why all ranchers and farmers in the 1800’s were required to have a college degree.
