I am a well guy…would you try to operate on a friend to save money? I bet if you bought a book or watched a video you could- and save $200 on “motel room surgery”…
I see “wells” that people did themselves all the time…10 gallon per minute of water and 20 gallons of sand!
Most well guys, like myself, are born in the business…my grandfather started in the ’50’s…
If the government takes control of the electricity, you re still out of water.
Good luck with PVC in the mountains of southern WV. They’re all hard rock with natural springs everywhere.
To power it you can set up a wind mill, a pitcher pump or solar panel. Wells are also good to water your yard with, saves money. There is no down side to having one.
I’ve got family that have wells local water districts have tried to force them to be tied to the cities supply lines. In Colorado where where water shortage is always a problem local municipalities have forced people to disengage using personal wells and forced them to use already strained public water sources. It’s insane and makes no sense at all!
There are laws. You can’t just go dig a well. First you have to check and see if there is water in the area you wish to dig — I understand the twsp used a fresh cut tree branch. Secondly, you have to perk the spot for drainage.. but before all else, you need to check for MINERAL RIGHTS. You may own the property, but you may not own the mineral rights more than 10 ft underground, just like you may not own the air more than 50 ft above.
Comparing a well guy to a surgeon? Not that’s funny right there!
Just be forewarned….if you live at the top of a pile of rock like I do, you MIGHT be a while.
Why stop at water, if you live on the Marcellus Shell go for Natural Gas…lol
Marcellus Shale
In Eastern NC you get 25 foot of pipe and a well tip. Put a coupling on and beat it down with a sledgehammer. When it gets short take the couing off, add a piece of pipe, put the coupling back on a nd beat it down again. Keep repeating until you get it all down and you put a hand pump on. No electricity and free water.
