It is becoming routine for police in some states to collect the DNA of people at random. Referred to as “stop and spit,” the practice involves swabbing the inside of someone’s mouth then sending off the sample for analysis. The results are then stored in a database.
It’s put forth as a way of potentially reducing crime. Of course, is a complete violation of the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unlawful searches. The old Marxist propaganda of giving up one’s freedom for security is a tried and true method of collapsing a free society under despotic rule.

Toni: You don’t measure “success” by how well it found weapons. Mandated door-to-door home searches would be a “success” too. Stop and frisk is NOT how things work in a free society. In the halls of Attica, but citizens are not suspects by the shear fact they are citizens.
This story is based on some rogue dirtbag police department in Texas that was pulling people over at a roadside stop and implying, very heavily, that they had no choice. If you were smart, you could refuse. But it is another example of government efforts to acclimate you to blind obedience from government agents if they wear a uniform. This department backpedled a bit once this went public but they got no punishment of any sort. And it’s effective. I GUARANTEE you’ll have people on this thread thinking this is a GREAT idea!!!
Terry v. Ohio did NOT allow ‘stop and frisk’. Would you people please actually read it!!! Terry made the law the cops MUST have a specific reason to believe you committed a crime, or were about to and they must have specific reasons. “Suspicion” is not good enough. The court has said over and over dubious, non-quantitative measurements like “instinct” and (dubious) “suspicion” don’t qualify. You can try to rewrite Terry all you wZnt but it’s Black letter law and not subject to revisions by those who don’t like what it says.
