The unlawful arrest of busker Andrew Kalleen, who has been performing in NYC subways for years, has created an outrage online, with his arrest having received over 1,000,000 views on YouTube.
Kalleen was acting completely within the confines of the law to perform at the Lorimer Street-Metropolitan Avenue G-train stop in Williamsburg, but he drew the ire of one cop when he stood up for his rights, who arrested him only for his ‘defiance’.
The cop stated that he needed a permit to perform in the subway systems of New York, which actually isn’t true.
The MTA rules reads as follows:
“The following nontransit uses are permitted by the Authority, provided they do not impede transit activities and they are conducted in accordance with these rules: public speaking; campaigning; leafletting or distribution of written noncommercial materials; activities intended to encourage and facilitate voter registration; artistic performances, including the acceptance of donations.”

cop looking FOR DONUT SHOP, ILLEGALLY arrests performer for performing as allowed by NYC Laws… FIRE the Donut Eater!! and TEACH HIM NYC laws!
Dan Turock got one for you.. And no, I don’t go looking for these I promise.. They just pop up
The donut eater read the law to the guy and still arrested him . I agree, the cops involved should not only be fired but prosicuted. They knowingly broke the law.
Thugs i tell ya…
Kidnapping and assault charges would be brought against a citizen for doing that. Cop gets retrained at the taxpayers expense! Fire his fat ass and prosecute him!
NEEDto find a better way to live
Hey Michael Zumwalt, its hard for me to comment cause i am unfamiliar with new york law. I know the article supposedly has it written, but ive heard that this facebook page is often inaccurate when they transcribe the actual law onto their page for propaganda purposes. So without reading it myself I wouldn’t really know. If what the guy was doing was legal, then the case will obviously get dismissed and the officer will receive a write up for his mistake. Mistakes are made all the time in every job as you know. If what he was doing is illegal, then the cop was justified. Either way, i personally would have called my sergeant first and had him respond. At that point, there is no rush to make a snap decision. This particular FB page is known to have a lot of inaccurate “anti-establishment” propoganda, so id have to do more research on the case, the law, the location, the arrestees history, before id know for sure. Ill try to check out the story from more legitimate media sources and get back too you! Thanks for keeping me on my toes! Hahahhaha
Wow….WTH.
