For those who have grown a bit cynical, the idea of ethics in government might appear self-contradictory. In other words, we might be able to have one or the other, but not both — at least not at the same time. This thinking is partly a by-product of the very public ethical lapses committed by those in government positions.
As easy as it would be at this point to launch into a diatribe against the Clintons, who have taken corruption to new levels, they are really just one part of the problem. And it distracts us from the fact that there are government officials who do exhibit a high level of ethical behavior in their spheres of responsibility.
The problem is compounded by the need to review the behavior of government officials when potential ethics violations are discovered. What this implies is that we have the government monitoring the government. The potential problems with that are obvious.
As Mr. Trump prepares to arrive in the Oval Office we see how this system can go awry. More on page two.
Just in case y’all forgot, Monica Lewinsky doesn’t swallow. Now you want to know who stinks the shithouse the most? Are y’all maroons or what?
Obviously another Obama lackey! Boot his$#%&!@*out and make him get a real job, where he will actually have to work!!
Really.. ever heard of the Clinton foundation oeople? And he is worried about Trump’s holdings and conflict of interest?
Sherril, I’m not an auditor, nor do I have access to their accounts. I suggest you pose those questions to Charity Navigator and to Charity Watch, the two independent charity evaluation organizations that audit charities and have both provided the Clinton Foundation with their highest ratings. Unlike our President-elect, I know to consult independent experts rather than read random c**p off the Internet. Conversely, we KNOW the Trump Foundation made illegal political contributions; they admitted it last year and we’re fined for it. And Trump paid the money back to the Foundation and fines were paid. Sadly, there were no clear penalties incurable for the obvious conflict of interest regarding the donations, just for making political donations from a nonprofit Foundation.
Two words: Clinton foundation.smh…where was he then? Spouting negative comments about conflicts of interest when they were running things? Nope nothing but cricjets. He is certainly not fit to lead ethics of anything, as he is biased
Sherry, stop believing false news you read on the Internet. Check with Charity Watch and with Charity Navigator. Great charity evaluation sources that I’ve been using for years to check on charities before I donate to any.
Like Trey Gowdy, Jason Chaffetz is a political toady, bought and paid for by big money. Both use their public offices to promote the private goals of their benefactors and to polish their resumes with f**e “accomplishments.”
Can’t gut the office so now they go after the head of office.
Typical. Always accuse someone of wrongdoing by their strength.
Louisiana prosecution attorney was big in boy scouts so rebs accused him of child porn.
Bollocks!
Delusional.
