For those who have grown a bit cynical, the idea of ethics in government might appear self-contradictory. In other words, we might be able to have one or the other, but not both — at least not at the same time. This thinking is partly a by-product of the very public ethical lapses committed by those in government positions.
As easy as it would be at this point to launch into a diatribe against the Clintons, who have taken corruption to new levels, they are really just one part of the problem. And it distracts us from the fact that there are government officials who do exhibit a high level of ethical behavior in their spheres of responsibility.
The problem is compounded by the need to review the behavior of government officials when potential ethics violations are discovered. What this implies is that we have the government monitoring the government. The potential problems with that are obvious.
As Mr. Trump prepares to arrive in the Oval Office we see how this system can go awry. More on page two.
Tom Melendy is it’s more accurate, to listen to the people who live in Haiti.
They’re not impressed, in the slightest.
I back this man because I know the government is full of people who are out for #1. At least give him a chance to investigate before you condemn.
Bill Hall, I’m sorry, but I disagree wholly. While they may not be “impressed”, it was nothing they payed for, they don’t know how much aid was allocated, nor how expensive it is to airlift Aid into Haiti. They’re “inside” the problem, therfore they are incapable of giving an objective opinion, and are not trained as forensic accountants so are not qualified to give one. If you say her Foundations efforts in Haiti should have been handled better, then I agree! If you’re claiming the Clintons somehow “stole” those funds, then you better have some real evidence, other than some Haitians who are dissatisfied with some free aid they received. On top of that, unless you donated to the Foundation, then you have no claims against this – it’s not taxpayer money.
F**K thrm both.
That Jackass went on a politically motivated witch hunt and got nothing on Hillary. This must be he latest effort to make a name for himself. Looks like another failure
Are you kidding Gowdy went as far as to alter evidence in his politically motivated witch hunt on Hillary and make a fool out of himself
Don Beach ,sorry your candidate lost-better luck with your new candidate in 4 years.
Tom you just need to stop. Your getting some obummer on your chin. Were you on your knees for 8 years? I think so.
Michael, you’re just a pathetic little thing, aren’t you? 🙂
It’s sad really
Tom Melendy it’s not about funds being stolen. It’s about how much things have improved in Haiti. There are many, many organizations that have spent money in Haiti for infrastructure, schools, housing and the like. In fact over 50 billion dollars. And there’s little to show for it.
The CF hit the ground there and joined the fray of purportedly caring organizations. It’s be one thing if they, TCF, were below the radar. They weren’t. They went out of their way to get ground time there and photo ops. They put themselves in the ten ring and used the poor people there to better their finances.
Elected officials that were part of the PR campaign are the loudest voices in opposition to TCF. They knew they’ve been had.
If TCF was such a humanitarian effort for good, and had such a stellar track record, then why is it gutted not 60 days after Hillary lost?
Perception being reality, clearly her donors have little, if any, faith in its mission.
