In a development that eerily reflects the current state of affairs in the nation, Capitol Hill has become a battleground between those who support law enforcement and those who are hostile to officers.
It all started when Democratic Representative William Lacy Clay decided to hang up a painting made by one of his constituents on the wall of the building. The painting, which depicts police as pigs bent on racist violence against African-Americans, sat there for months before Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter took it upon himself to have the offending work removed, citing it as inappropriate and disrespectful to law enforcement.
Considering the sacrifices made by officers everyday, you would think that Hunter’s position and reason for removing the painting would hardly be controversial. After all, it is only because of police that legislators are safe to do their jobs. But unfortunately, it appears that some disagree with this assessment.

Excuse me?
Absolutely! I’m not sure what you mean by rebel flag, but it doesn’t matter, if an artist wishes to use a flag in art it would be appropriate. If you want to fly it at a public school, that might be another matter for that community, but as an art project sure. Once you start making rules…you can’t stop…and then it wouldn’t really be art anymore, would it? X rated stuff would have appropriate limits. If an artist put too much glory in a black flag, he might appropriately get put on a terror watch list, but there are plenty of situations where a flag like that would be appropriate to the message. Once crowds of like minded (or no minded) people start burning art or books they will keep excluding ideas in a frenzy until there are no ideas left at all. Some ignorant people every year try to get “Huckleberry Fin” removed from school libraries because there is a character called Ni&&er Jim. What they don’t know is that Mark Twain designed Ni&&er Jim as a slave freed by his master but smart enough to play like a dumb slave to keep ignorant white people off guard so he could survive a hostile world. Even a bigoted reader would over the course of the book begin to see this guy in new and favorable light. This book was very important to changing the perception of black people paving the way for civil rights later. So we have to constantly fight to keep this important book on the shelves. If we allowed it to be burned or banished (like some would like to do to this painting) a very important part of the history of civil rights would disappear. A lot of people know how important is Huckleberry Finn and this painting, but few have courage to stand up to an emotional raging mob. I’m just stupid enough to enjoy it.
What if a white congressman had said that about Obama, there would be riots, looting, burning all over the country.
It needs to come down!
OMG screw all this pc bs. Calling a police officer a cop is NOT derogatory hanging that$#%&!@*and calling it art is a slap in the face to our law enforcement. Don’t change the subject… Laura Raney Thompson tell the guy to take a hike… you didn’t say anything wrong.
Violence is yur answer??? IT DOESN’T BELONG THERE! If you love it so much take it HOME!!
