Barack Obama has less than a month remaining as president, and the world is taking advantage.
This week the United Nations quickly pushed through a resolution that would declare Israeli settlements illegal. The measure was fast-tracked largely in order to take advantage of the Obama administration’s tepid relationship with Israel — something that will likely change once Donald Trump assumes office in late-January. The resolution passed on a 14-0 vote.
In the end, the United States didn’t even vote on the controversial resolution. Despite having veto power over any U.N. resolution, American U.N. Ambassador Samantha Powers chose to abstain from the vote, allowing the resolution to pass unanimously.
It was perhaps the most cowardly thing the Obama administration could have done. They were too afraid to stand up for Isreal and too afraid to finally admit that they don’t care about the Israeli people.
See how prominent Republicans — including Donald Trump — responded to the vote on the next page:
Thank you, Lindsey Graham for expressing the American outrage over the UN vote!
That’s his Legacy…COWARD!!!
Send the UN packing. Rid USA of Obama and UN the same day
Defend or Defund?
Once again Obama takes the blame. Previous Presidents (and the World) previously expressed their views that Settlements are ILLEGAL in a land that is still under negotiation (or on hold) for the 2 state solution. By building these settlements (and the Palestinians cannot do anything about it because they are under occupation) undermines the final stage of the 2 states that our government, Israel and the whole world agrees on. The UN decision just makes it official.
Proof read your damn headlines……..defend is worlds apart from defund……SMH
Yes, Israel does need to defend themselves, however the current Israeli regime has conducted offensive operations and building settlements which have displaced members of Christian, Muslim and other faiths. Israel needs to be sanctioned. This type of religious apartheid is creating unnecessary, avoidable conflict and escalation of terrorism throughout the world.
The UN will prosecute countries for war crimes and violating the Geneva conventions. Since most Republicans are in favor of defunding the United Nations because of blocking settlements in Israel it means the Republicans wanting to expand Israeli settlements support committing war crimes and are violating the Geneva convention. UN Security Counsel members and ICC is preparing war crimes prosecutions and sanctions due to the displacement of innocent civilians, plundering their natural resources, and other atrocities in the region. Although the United States abstained, Russia voted for blocking the Israeli settlements creating a wedge between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump which gives Russia huge leverage over diplomatic efforts in the region. Some thing to watch is if Russia is successful in its operations in Syria to end the civil war. This gives another huge leverage point to Russia in diplomatic relations and opens the door for Russia to have negotiations with the United States which could lead to better relations and peace agreements.
Kick the UN off American soil, defund, and take us out of the UN, we do not need them, and they are not helping us.
Vladimir Putin is planning to use diplomatic leverage to bring the United States to the table to draft negotiations for a new type of “Molotov Plan”. Look for Donald Trump to counter with a new type of “Marshall Plan”. These will be designed on the same frameworks but with broader applications to address the needs for today. Donald Trump must work with Vladimir Putin on the Israeli Palestinian issue to make sure there is a fair two state solution, to destroy ISIS and stabilize Syria and Iraq. Vladimir Putin has the leverage.
I really hope it’s more than a threat
