When Congress passed the Intelligence Authorization Act for 2015, it granted the executive branch not only the ability to spy on American citizens private communications, but also the legal authority to turn that information over to local law enforcement.
All of this can be done without any court order being granted, all in the name of ‘fighting terror’, of course.

Will Fedele: I understand your frustration. We Americans lost our privacy decades ago, not only with the government, but commerce as well. Every time you swipe your credit card, or scan one of those little points tags, you are volunteering information about yourself and your living habits. I do not like it any more than you do. Everybody likes Google maps where you can see your home from space. That feature is fun, but imagine just how much the government agencies can see with their advanced spy satellites. Read George Orwell’s “1984”. Scary!
