Don’t forget as far as I know this does not apply to USA mail. There are special protections of privacy enforced by the postmaster General and stealing, reading, using the mail in a criminal venture, are all federal crimes and they actually do need a court order to intercept one’s mail. This was set up long, long ago. Most people act as though electronic communication is secure but it has never been. Encryption is your best defense, or mail a letter. Remember those?
