When Congress passed the Intelligence Authorization Act for 2015, it granted the executive branch not only the ability to spy on American citizens private communications, but also the legal authority to turn that information over to local law enforcement.
All of this can be done without any court order being granted, all in the name of ‘fighting terror’, of course.

Alicia Branning. No. The law has been established for a while. What past was the budget that pays for ALL INTELLIGENT AGENCIES. This includes the FBI, the CIA, DHS, etc. This is not a new law and we still have for now…..most of our freedoms. The government does have the authority to check correspondence on you if you are calling Middle East countries and I’m sure they are looking into key phrases like the words, “bomb” or “jihad”, etc, etc.
I’m not sure what the original posters were trying to accomplish with this scare tactic, but they aren’t too brilliant at their attempt.
If a law is Consituionally contested, then a lawsuit can be filed with SCOTUS.
