The small town of Nucla, Colorado, with a population of 750, passed the state’s first and only municipal ordinance in 2014 requiring heads of households to own guns and ammo, “in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the town and its inhabitants.”
“We more or less kind of wanted to give criminals a heads up. Stay out of this town. We’re armed,” stated board member Richard Craig.

It was not unusual for boys to carry hunting rifles and pocket knives to school in country schools .
Good for them, more places need to do this, especially with the shape our Government is currently in, we may need them.
They were taught respect for the tool of firearms and were not to be played with.
OK TEXAS ???????
There were guns in the trucks and everyone carried either their hunting knife or a folder at school. Class of 1978!!!!!
Lots of students carried rifles or shotguns in their trucks/cars at the high school I attended in Texas back in the 1970s. The school rules allowed it and you could carry a knife on your person. No one thought anything of it and we never had any shootings or stabbings either.
When I went to school our shop teacher brought his gun to school along with his dog PS 66 Buffalo NY Denis
