Operators of the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum in Hampton, Georgia, have decided to close the five-year old Civil War museum after a Henry County commissioner demanded removal of Confederate artifacts.
The museum has been run by a nonprofit organization to commemorate the site of an August 1864 battle in the American Civil War. It’s been housed in a historic building in what has been a Henry County park.
Commissioner Dee Clemmons, an African-American woman, began her demands on the museum with a request to remove a Confederate flag displayed on a flagpole.

Disgusting…this county commissioner should be ashamed.
This must stop.
The biggest mistake this country ever made was to bring African slaves to our shores. We have been paying for it ever since in the form of welfare, foodstamps, Affirmative Action, Obamaphones and quotas that accept blacks into colleges over more qualified Asians and whites. Truth be known, many blacks have come to the U.S. after the 1960’s long after the Civil War and still claim a connection to slavery, what a (sad) joke.
ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL
So sick!
All these statues have been here for years and years why all the sudden they want them all took down what is going on !!??
This is sad.Guess the left’s promises to move statues to museums instead of destroying them was a lie too.
I have been at this museum several times and twice there were visitors there with me of different ethnic groups. The exhibits were well balanced and brought life to a part of US history. Everyone with me was asking questions and no one seemed offended.
The battlefield itself will likely become subdivisions now. Hopefully this naive, self righteous commissioner will be voted out. When you remove sites of interest to tourists county revenues go down and property taxes go up. Obviously this woman is more concerned about her ego than Clayton county citizens’ finances. I travel through Clayton county regularly but will never spend another dime there.
Wow, another pandering jackass in a position they are obviously unqualified for.
Seriously
How stupid is this woman? That war was fought for her freedom!
