Operators of the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum in Hampton, Georgia, have decided to close the five-year old Civil War museum after a Henry County commissioner demanded removal of Confederate artifacts.
The museum has been run by a nonprofit organization to commemorate the site of an August 1864 battle in the American Civil War. It’s been housed in a historic building in what has been a Henry County park.
Commissioner Dee Clemmons, an African-American woman, began her demands on the museum with a request to remove a Confederate flag displayed on a flagpole.

This should be brought up before the courts. This is like burning the books in Nazis Germany. By hiding something in a closet or destroying it, you cannot destroy truth. This is all part of our nation’s history. The Confederate flag is just as much a part of our history as slavery was. Truth be known, white slavery (Irish slaves) was more prominent at one time in our country than black slavery and it happened around the same time. This is something we seldom talk about.

How much eradicating does it take by government officials of signs, symbols and documents before it become a 1st Amendment issue ? I thought the first amendment was designed to protect speech and symbols not condoned by the government. If the signs, symbols and documents were approved by the government, they would need no protection.

Someone needs to stand up to bullies like her who want to destroy history. By destroying artifacts or taking down a flag won’t change our nation’s history. It also won’t change the lies we were told on both sides and the truths that were hidden. This was all done for political reasons. This woman also has a political reason behind her agenda. Today blacks and the Democrat/Liberal Party are blaming all whites for the evils of slavery. However, the majority of whites living in the country were never related to any slave owners because their ancestors came after the Civil War many through Ellis Island. Likewise, many blacks have no connection to slavery in this country because their ancestors came after the Civil War, many after the 60’s when Kennedy changed the quota system for 3rd world countries.
