Operators of the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum in Hampton, Georgia, have decided to close the five-year old Civil War museum after a Henry County commissioner demanded removal of Confederate artifacts.
The museum has been run by a nonprofit organization to commemorate the site of an August 1864 battle in the American Civil War. It’s been housed in a historic building in what has been a Henry County park.
Commissioner Dee Clemmons, an African-American woman, began her demands on the museum with a request to remove a Confederate flag displayed on a flagpole.

The only racists are the ones screaming to take these things down. Without the knowledge of what it was truly about, the uneducated are allowed to make up any story they want that makes them feel better. Without the Civil War, there would be no acknowledgement of slavery or freedom from slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation. We would lose so much of our history after that time as well. The insanity involved in destroying history will only cause us to repeat it, and purposely trying to erase it makes morons out of future generations. We already have too many that apparently never attended an American History class or a course in civics and look at the trash that has produced.
Anybody that thinks a poor farmer from Virginia would go off and fight a war, so a rich farmer in Mississippi could keep his slaves, is a special kind of stupid. ..

Kinda difficult to have a museum about the Civil War if only one side can be represented. Those who would forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
What happens when ALL artifacrs and reminders of that period are gone? There are those… on both sides… who will be ready to assert that slavery never happened.
