I seriously doubt she doesn’t get it. As I recall, as a young child when she got hurt at school? or needed one of her parents, she didn’t want them to call her mom, she preferred her dad instead. That said a lot. Didn’t sound like mom was her go to person, or that warm and fuzzy to her own child.
