Michael Korte and wife Laura Whitney from Glendora, CA face $500 in fines and even criminal action if they don’t turn their brown lawn green again, which died because they were trying to comply with California water regulations.
Don’t you just love the government’s ability to coordinate their activities?
On Tuesday — when the couple received the letter — state regulators authorized fines up to $500 for overwatering lawns.‘Despite the water conservation efforts, we wish to remind you that limited watering is still required to keep landscaping looking healthy and green,’ the letter stated.
It included pictures of the dead lawn with a red line through it, a weedy line similarly crossed out, and finally an uncrossed green lawn with a sprinkler.
‘It is telling me I’d better get my lawn green and I have 60 days to do it,’ Laura said.Ironically, on the same day the couple received the letter the State Water Resources Control Board gave local agencies power to fine for overwatering lawns to help reduce water consumption as the state is in the third year of record low rainfall.
Should the couple wish to improve their lawn they’ll likely have to water it every day.
‘It seems like you’ll be fined if you overwater but we will be fined no matter what,’ Laura said.
Damned if you do damned if you don’t. All a scam another way for the government to take away other peoples hard working money to bring down the economy. What a damn shame
I would get some green paint and start spraying that’s a way of making

This couple needs to hire an attorney and take this to Supreme Court. They are liable for drought in the state they live in and if the local municipality imposes water restrictions due to drought and this homeowner complied, they are not at fault for an act of nature. No one has control over such things, therfore if they are being fined or bagered it is against their rights and they could sue big time….
Ahem . . . Ca ? Nuff said . . .
