Known as the “Father of His Country,” Washington may not have been the smartest President, but he was definitely intelligent and a capable leader. He served, of course, as the very first president of the United States. Washington had no formal education and only had the education of an elementary school child, but as one of his biographers put it, he had “integrity, self-discipline, courage, absolute honesty, resolve, and decision, but also forbearance, decency, and respect for others.”
