Theodore Roosevelt assumed the presidency in 1901 at the age of just 43, making him the youngest president in United States history! He graduated from Harvard in 1880 and went on to Columbia to study law. Roosevelt had a reputation as a learned historian and a popular writer. He first became president after President McKinley was assassinated and then went on to be elected for a subsequent full term.

Roosevelt has consistently been ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. presidents.
