While some politicians and scientists embrace global warming and climate change with almost religious fervor, new evidence has surfaced to suggest the science is not in fact settled.
Researchers off the coast of Norway’s Svalbard archipelago have discovered that where methane gas bubbles up from seafloor seeps, surface waters above the seeps absorb twice as much carbon dioxide as surrounding waters, thus lessening the impact of climate change.
The previous assumption had been that methane seeps would inevitably increase the amount of greenhouse gases. Seeps occur above fissures on the seafloor caused of the earth’s tectonic activity.
Biogeochemist John Pohlman of the U.S. Geological Survey in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, began the research near Svalbard to learn just how much methane the Arctic Ocean was contributing to the global balance in the atmosphere.
Find out just how surprising the findings were not only to the Pohlman team but other scientists looking at the same issue regarding methane. It’s all found on the next page.
You know what changes the climate? Guess….
In ’77 it was ‘global cooling’ By the turn of the century we were supposed to be living in igloos. About ’02 – ’06 it bacame global warming. When niether of those happened it became climate change.
Meantime Hillary is brokering a clearcutting deal on Columbia for Frank Guistra. The worst thing humans have done is clearcut the forests. They are the lungs of Mother Nature. They turn carbon dioxide into oxygen and clean the air. Destroying trees and plants have been the biggest toll on this planet. There are so few densw forests and so many people that the forests can no longer keep with the smog and carbon dioxide. Thats what happens from living in a concrete world.
This article is very misleading in that it does not refute climate change – although the casual reader or fervent denier will come away with that conclusion.
When 90% of researchers use federal dollors to study climate change dont you think thr results are skewed towards the governments agenda???
Amen!
Not what Gore and Co want to hear…..
I see you like koolaid.
NO, Al Gore say it ain’t so! HORROR
Eric L Runion posted that after a fun day with Wolfy Blitzer$#%&!@*haha CNN much you brainwashed$#%&!@*atleast you were good for laugh this morning, run along now Rachel Maddow is waiting for you to shave his back hair,oh if Dem policies are so great they wouldnt of lost almost 1500 seats in government since 2008,you guys are lucky you have leberal press shilling for you or your failed bi-coastal party would just fade away.
Go figure. The earth (via God) has the answers. This does NOT get us off the hook for living in reverence to what the earth has to offer. I am more concerned with man’s deliberate “tinkering” with our climate (geoengineering). This study reminds me of a Firesign theatre line, “did it ever occur to you that everything you know is wrong”
