Angry Mobs Take To Streets In Backlash Against Migration After Teenager Is ‘Raped By Refugee’

The government has responded to these growing concerns by promising to tighten its immigration policy. While requiring asylum seekers to work for free and learn about the country’s culture and society is a good step, it doesn’t stop the problem.

People are patrolling the streets in mobs, blocking anyone from crossing the border and are dressing as the Ku Klux Kan at protests against refugees.

Hundreds of people from the town have been chanting: “Finland for the Finns! Close down the centre!”

The country’s prime minister Juha Sipilä has offered migrants a warm welcome, even offering one of his homes in Kemepele as emergency accommodation.

However, many people in the country are opposed to the influx.

One MP, Oli Immonen, wrote on Facebook: “I’m dreaming of a strong, brave nation that will defeat this nightmare called multiculturalism.

“Our lives are entwined in a very harsh time. These are the days that will forever leave a mark on our nation’s future. I have a strong belief in my fellow fighters.

“We will fight until the end for our homeland and one true Finnish nation. The victory will be ours.”

In the city of Lahti, migrants arriving to begin their new lives were also met by protestors.

The government’s new regulations will see them regularly reassess conditions in the asylum seekers’ home countries and if necessary, cancel residence permits. The anti-immigration sentiment has also grown dude the expected shrink of the country’s economy.
